Does running an overlay ESP reduce FPS on budget graphics cards?
Closed thread Closed by archiveRunning a GTX 1660 Super with an i5-10400f. Normally I get around 220 FPS in Valorant, but as soon as I load an ESP overlay with 3D boxes and snaplines my FPS stutters down to 140 and feels floating/laggy.
Is this caused by DirectX overlay hook overhead or CPU bottlenecking from parsing memory entities every frame? How can I optimize this so my game stays at 200+ FPS?

Replies are closed3D boxes and snaplines require extra math calculations for every player entity on screen. On older CPUs, calculating 3D box vertices in screen space every 4ms drops performance. Switch from 3D Boxes to 2D Bounding Boxes or simple Corner Boxes. That alone cuts rendering overhead in half.
Also make sure you disable "Snaplines" and "Distance Text". Rendering font textures over DirectX overlay is super heavy on low-tier systems.
Using well-coded valorant cheat software makes a big difference here. Well-optimized builds use lightweight GDI+ or custom DirectX 11 overlay hooks that bypass unnecessary drawing loops, keeping your FPS loss under 5%.
Turned off 3D boxes and snaplines like you guys suggested, back up to 210 FPS crisp! Appreciate the help.
